Starting in January, the next Kroger event will be a dual tournament not only for the Kroger Cup, but now also for the Great Value Futures Trophy!
All players will initially be in the running for the original Kroger Cup. When a competitor who is 17 or younger is eliminated from the tournament, they are then automatically placed in the Kroger Cup youth league tournament for the Great Value Futures Trophy, based off their score. (Exact process will be fine-tuned the day of the event!) The winner will then defend it at the next Kroger event (or forfeit if they can't attend).
The trophy will be just that, a trophy. There will be no physical commemorating with trinkets, so the youth competitors will have to strive for the main cup, if they want to reach legend status and to commemorate wins with trinkets.
The Great Value trophy will still be a level of prestige to achieve. Each win will be catalogued in the winners' profile and showcase just how much of a threat they could be once they reach true Kroger legendary status!
Why not!? There are a decent number of younger players in the roster now, and this gives them the incentive to get better, try harder, and achieve a taste of Kroger Glory!
While the Kroger Cup is the true pinnacle of glory, and all competitors strive for the chance to hoist it over their heads in victory, The Great Value Futures trophy is now also a part of that Majesty! The Kroger youth league is about to heat up, and 2025 should be a great year for all Kroger Championships!
